Academic, Diverse, Welcoming
Colchester Royal Grammar School was founded in 1206 and granted Royal Charters by Henry VIII in 1539 and Elizabeth I in 1584. We are one of the UK’s top performing academically selective state schools – ranked 6th nationally, named the highest performing sixth form outside of London by the Telegraph, and awarded East Anglian State Secondary School of the Decade by the Sunday Times. Our core values are Compassion, Respect, Generosity, Support and we are proud to offer the highest quality of pastoral care in the boarding houses and at school. We are a strong, diverse and multicultural community. Students enjoy their Sixth Form experience, learning invaluable life skills and gaining life-long friends.
Message from School
“CRGS offers boarding accommodation for 30 students across two family-style houses. Boarders have the resources to achieve above and beyond their own academic targets. Students are encouraged to enjoy challenge and aim high, with a focus on extracurricular activities to enrich the students’ education, preparing them for university life.”
