Opportunity, Courage, Community
King’s Ely is one of England’s oldest schools. Founded in 970 AD, in the shadow of the magnificent Ely Cathedral, the school has grown to become a thriving community of 1,145 students, aged between 2-18 years. Boys and girls from all over the world, come to King’s Ely to enjoy a well-rounded education in a city of unparalleled beauty and history. Strong academic rigour is combined with access to the widest range of co-curricular opportunities in music, drama, sport and the creative arts. The school offers boarding from Year 5 and is a home-from-home to students from 35 different nationalities. All of our boarding houses boast modern facilities. Many are taken straight out of a Harry Potter movie! King’s Ely is a fifteen-minute train ride from Cambridge. London is just over an hour away. We welcome students with a can-do attitude; those who are prepared to give things a go and by doing so, discover new or develop existing passions. King’s Ely values each one of its students; the contributions they make to our community, the challenges they rise to and the successes they achieve. No other school’s students are the same and no two King’s Ely students are alike. We are, as a result, Uniquely Kings. Value is placed on the enthusiasm and courage with which students make the most of the opportunities available to them including top-class sport, music and creative arts. Teacher support and a can-do attitude ensure that students leave King’s Ely with purpose and self-belief.
